Martin "Marty" E. Johnson

April 25, 1943 — February 16, 2018

Martin E. Johnson “Marty”, age 74 of Tipp City, passed away February 16, 2018 at The Hospice of Dayton. He was born on April 25, 1943 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Martin W. Johnson and Madeline (Rodriguez) Johnson. In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary Oma Eversole and his first wife, Lois Ann (Thies) Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Johnson; children, Timothy (Teresa) Johnson, Troy (Diedra) Johnson, Kathy (Ken) Whitman, Amy (Terry) Robinson, William (Sarai) Robinson, Mary (Milt) Kreitzer and Veronica (Jack) Ball; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren ; brother, David (Sharon) Johnson and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Marty retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and 2 tours to Vietnam. He earned numerous medals and awards, but most specifically he received a Vietnam Service medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars during his service. He worked at DP&L in Dayton, Fernald Nuclear Plant in Cincinnati and taught special education in Las Vegas. Marty enjoyed his model trains, woodworking, and travelling all around the country. He was a member of Knights of Columbus #4424 in Huber Heights. Marty stayed busy with helping as a Lectern Usher, Food Pantry Worker, and Education Commission at St. Peter’s Parish.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Theresa, RN and Erica, RN; nursing aides, Tisha and Dorinda and all of the staff at The Hospice of Dayton for their extraordinary care for Marty and his family.

Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Amarillo, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either The Hospice of Dayton, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association in Marty’s memory.
