Marvelle Annice (Buchanan) Marshall, 94, of Amarillo died May 16, 2018.
A visitation will be held today from 6-7:00 p.m., at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2018 at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Marvelle was born February 5, 1924 in Happy, TX to Chester and Viola Buchanan. She was the Valedictorian of her senior class at Happy High School. Marvelle then attended Draughon’s Business College in Lubbock.
Marvelle married John Dorsey Marshall in 1950.
She worked for Phillips Petroleum; Pantex; Morrison Supply Co.; City of Amarillo City Attorney; Perdue, Brandon & Blair; and retired as Secretary of the City of Amarillo in 1987.
She was a former member of Tascosa Country Club and Women’s Golf Association. Marvelle was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, Lamplighter’s Sunday school class and Lou Hansen’s painting class. She loved to play bridge in her spare time.
Marvelle is preceded in death by her husband John Dorsey Marshall; parents, Chester and Viola Buchanan; 2 sisters, Thelma Hudspeth and Merna Jean Travis; 2 brothers, Knox Buchanan and Clyde Buchanan; and 2 half siblings, Hazel Harrison and Henry Allen “Buck” Buchanan.
She is survived by daughter, Ann Fry and husband Gary of Amarillo; granddaughter, Kala Cluck Schmitto and husband Danny of Denton; and 1 great-grandson, Leonidas John Schmitto.
