Mary Josephine Doucette

VIGIL SERVICE will be 7:00 PM on Friday evening at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Celebrant will be Msgr. Harold Waldow.  Burial will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas.   Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. Bio: Mrs. Doucette was born on May 11, 1917 in Chingford, Essex, England to John Baptist and Lillian Constance Brickley.  She served in the Royal Air Force during WWII in England and was headquartered in the Bomber Command for 4 ½ years in Guildford, near London. During her service she was privileged to meet King George VI and his wife Queen Elizabeth, and it was there she met her future husband, Albert P. Doucette of Pampa who was stationed near London with the United States Air Force.  In 1946 she traveled from England to Pampa where she married Albert on October 5th.  She taught kindergarten at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic School for 19 years.  Mrs. Doucette was very active in the church and served as a eucristic minister, lector, Sacristy duty and volunteered in the community with Meals on Wheels and Good Sams.  In 1996, after the death her husband in 1994 she moved to Amarillo and joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  As a member of St. Mary’s she served the church in every capacity she could, Sacristy duty, Communion Minister, lector, and visited those in hospitals and nursing homes.  Her entire life was devoted to the church and her family.  She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers; her husband, Albert; and a daughter, Avril Rush MD in 2001. She is survived by her son A. John Doucette and his wife Phyllis of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Kellie Frie and husband Ross, Tracie Rush and Joe, Mark Doucette and his wife Meredith and Laura Hastings and husband Casey; and five great grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Blake, Miles and Jake. The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1200 South Washington, Amarillo, Texas 79102; St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 810 West 23rd Avenue Pampa, TX 79065-2727; or a favorite charity.
