Mary Lee Brune Needham died October 23, 2013 at the age of 69 after a brief illness.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27 in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 28 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. John Valdez officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Mary was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa on September 21, 1944 to Bernard and Colette Brune of St. Paul, Iowa. She attended St. James grade school and high school graduating in 1962. Mary attended Ottumwa Heights Jr. College, Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, and New Mexico Highlands University, graduating with a degree in elementary education. She taught school in Davenport-Bettendorf, Iowa; Joplin, Missouri; and 24 years at St. Mary’s School in Amarillo, for a total of 32 years.
Mary married the love of her life, Dr. Thomas E. Needham on May 8, 1965 at St. James Church in St. Paul, Iowa. They were members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Jason Edward Needham.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Suzanne Needham of Amarillo; two sons, Thomas E. Needham, Jr. and wife, Carolyn and Timothy Needham and wife, Carrie all of Amarillo; three sisters, Janet Thrasher of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Peggy Womer of Algoma, Wisconsin, Ellen Gaudineer of Des Moines, Iowa; four brothers, William Brune of West Burlington, Iowa, Eugene Brune of Houghton, Iowa, Kenneth Brune of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Samuel Brune, of Sterling, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Tristyn, Dena, Mary-Claire, Gretchen, and Robby.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Joseph's Catholic School, 4118 S. Bonham, Amarillo, TX 79110.
