Mary Ella Langston, age 84, died on June 3, 2010. Services will be at 11:00am in the Chapel at Polk Street Methodist Church with the Rev. Marty Hamrick officiating. A family burial will be held on Thursday in Bryson, Texas. Arrangements are under the care of Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia Mary was born August 6, 1925 in Bryson, Texas. She graduated from Bryson High School and Elliott Business College in Dallas, Texas. For the majority of her professional life she worked for an independent insurance agent achieving her underwriter status. She was a Worthy Matron in the Shalman Temple of the Dallas Eastern Star chapter and upon moving to Amarillo became a member of the Shirley Chapter. Mary married Flavil Langston on August 15, 1953 in Dallas where they lived in Highland Park and Lake Highlands respectively for forty seven years. “Love the Lord with all your heart” was the guiding song in Mary’s heart. In her quiet manner she modeled her faith and blessed all who knew her. In 2000 she moved to Amarillo and soon became a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Polk Street became a second home through bible study, quilting, UMW “Circle1”, Star Choir and worship services. Mary joined her daughter, Beth Kean, and her adopted daughter, Tricia Trimble, as a volunteer at The Hope & Healing Place, a grief, loss, & trauma center. She used her secretarial and organizational skills as a volunteer for eight years. Mary was a servant in every chosen place of service. The family will receive visitors at Schooler Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM.Mary was preceded in death by her husband Flavil Langston, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Kean and husband Roy Bowen, Brother Jim Denning of Plano, Sister Sue Thomason of Cleburne, and her beloved cat Sir Thomas. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a memory gift in her name to The Hope & Healing Place, 1721 S. Tyler, Amarillo, Texas, 79102.
