Mary was born June 23, 1938 in Leonard, Texas to Elvin and Mary Taylor Scroggins. She graduated from Wayside High School and later graduated from Draughn’s Business College. Mary worked in the office at Boy’s Ranch before marrying the love of her life, James Needham, on September 17, 1960 at her parent’s home in Wayside. Not only was she an active Sunday School teacher, Bible school teacher and Director at Paramount Baptist, she and James were also foster parents for many years, and fostered more than 50 children in their lives. She had a special gift for working with children. She also served on the board and was a founding member of what is now the Amarillo Foster Parents Association and at one time was even a Cub Scout Den Mother. Before becoming a member of Paramount Baptist Church, she was an active member at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Mary cried the day Elvis died and was a lifelong fan of his music. She cherished any time she got to spend in Red River, New Mexico.
