Mary Lou Roberts, 69 of Amarillo passed away on April 7, 2015. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 11, 2015 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home; 4100 S. Georgia St.
Mary Lou was born in Austin, TX. on May 27, 1945.
She was brought to Amarillo at 3 days old by her forever family Charles and Evelyn Ivers. She graduated from St. Mary’s Cathedral School at the age of 16. At the age of 18, she entered Northwest Texas Hospital’s nursing program where she graduated with her R.N. degree. She began her 47 year nursing career at St. Anthony’s hospital in 1963, where she worked for the next 19 years. She spent the next 7 years teaching the Surgical Technician program at Amarillo College. In 1989 she began working at Northwest Texas Hospital, where she spent the last 25 years of her career. She retired from Northwest Texas in June 2014. Mary Lou was a teacher, coach, and mentor to so many nurses, surgical techs, friends, and family throughout her career and leaves behind a legacy of excellence in patient care.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two sons Tim Roberts and wife Michelle of Panhandle, TX. and Greg Roberts and wife Angela of Lubbock, TX., a brother Charles Ivers and wife Kathy of Ft. Worth, TX.; and seven grandchildren Michael, Kenzie, Lexi, Cole, Mikayla, Keira and Connor.
