Mary Sue Sisemore

July 18, 1916 — March 25, 2011

Mary Sue was born in Melvin, Texas July 18, 1916.  She was attended Amarillo High School where she met her future husband Jack Sisemore Sr,.  His father was her pastor. After graduating in 1934, the in Canyon in 1935. Together, they continued their education and attended the Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  Her husband’s first pastorate was in Colorado Springs, Colorado and from there they moved to a church in Fort St. Jo, Florida, 30 miles east of Panama City, Florida. They returned to Amarillo to pastor Line Avenue Baptist church in Amarillo in 1941. .In 1956 she and her husband were instrumental in the founding of Olsen Park Baptist Church. Mary Sue has resided here ever since. She was the epitome of a good pastor’s wife.  Mary Sue had a vivid memory and was extremely articulate at telling stories of the past. She always had time to do a good deed and give a kind word. Even into her nineties, she was nurturing and caring, to everyone, never meeting a stranger. To know her was to love her.The family wished to extend a special thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Bivin’s Assisted Living Center and Hospice Care of the Southwest.She was preceded in death by, her husband Dr. Jack Sisemore Sr. on October 18, 1982; two brothers, Joe and Homer Damron.Survivors include her two sons, Jack Sisemore and Jesse Sisemore and wife Nancie all of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Trent, Brett, Andrea, Trish, Angie, and Berkley; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
