Marion Soya, 80, of Amarillo died Friday, January 6, 2017.
Private Services will be held. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas 79110.
Marion was born February 9, 1936 in New York City, NY to James and Jean Byrnes. She received an Associate’s degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology and designed patterns for dresses that were sold at Lord & Taylor. She married Donald Soya in Queens, NY in 1958. They lived in Hazlet, NJ for more than thirty years. She also worked for the state of New Jersey for eighteen years and was the director of the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Toy Drive for many years. She and Donald enjoyed traveling together and their travels took them to six continents and on nine cruises. In her spare time she also enjoyed oil painting.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marion is survived by her husband, Donald of Amarillo; two daughters, Celeste Libbin and husband Thomas of Amarillo, and Heather Rehn and husband Carl of Piscataway, NJ; one son, Dr. Gary Soya and wife Susan of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren, Alek and Ryan Libbin, Carl and Nicholas Rehn, Mary Beth Soya, Daniel Soya, and Kyle Soya.
