Mary Sue Triplett

Mary Sue Triplett, 86 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM am Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Claude Cemetery with the Rev. Janet Edwards previously of the Claude United Methodist Church and Pastor Mike Evans of the Claude United Methodist Church officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia Street.

Mary Sue was born May 29, 1935 in Amarillo, Texas to Charley LeeRoy and Mabel Elizabeth Irving Russ.  She graduated from Panhandle High School in May 1953.  In September 1963, she married the love of her life, Rowland Triplett in Panhandle, Texas.

Mary Sue worked in the Extension Service office in Panhandle until she married and moved to Claude.  For many years she held her favorite job as homemaker and Mom.  Later in life she worked as Assistant County Tax Assessor in Armstrong County until her retirement in 1998.

Mary Sue had many hobbies including sewing, any type of handwork, gardening and cheering on the Texas Tech Red Raiders.  One of her favorite things to do was walk, whether it be around the neighborhood, in the mountains or at the beach, she always wanted to “go for a walk.”  She was also a member of the Claude United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rowland, her parents and two sisters, Maurine Russ of Panhandle and Laura Lee Adams of Claude.

Survivors include her daughter Mary Beth Boyd and husband Richard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her son Charley Triplett and wife Melissa of Lubbock, Texas; ; a sister Ola Faye Hinsey of Silverton, Oregon and a brother Charley Russ Jr. of Panhandle, Texas; and her precious grandchildren Kendall Boyd and Fiancé Morgan Gast of Mandeville, Louisiana, Joshua Boyd and wife Haley of Mandeville, Louisiana and Eryn Triplett of Lubbock, Texas.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Lubbock and Callendar House of Lubbock for the care and compassion they showed Mary Sue and her family.

The family suggests memorials to the Claude Cemetery or the First United Methodist Church in Claude.
