Mary Margaret Townsend, age 92 of Amarillo, Texas died March 5, 2015
Funeral Services will be on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Cross Pointe Church, 4400 South Crockett. Pastor Dale Travis will officiate. A private interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Mary was born in Guymon, OK on September 4, 1922. Her father was Amarillo City Manager and her mother was a teacher. She married Fred on June 6, 1942. They had a wonderful life together of 46 years. They had two sons, Fred and David. Mary graduated from West Texas State with a Master’s degree in Art and Education. Her teaching career spanned over 30 years. She began her career at Forrest Hill Elementary and spent the majority of her tenure at Amarillo High School as head of the Art Department. She was known as “Mrs. T” by her students and touched thousands of lives. Her true pride and joy was her family. She was loved and will be truly missed.
She is preceded in death by her brother Jack, her sister and best friend Jane, her husband Fred and son David.
She is survived by her son Fred, seven grandchildren Fred, Michelle, Bryan, Scott and wife Lori, David Jr., Jonathan, Christopher and ten great grandchildren.
