April 30, 1929 — February 3, 2013

Mary Anne (Morrison) Williams

Mary Anne Morrison Williams passed gracefully on February 3rd at the Ware Memorial Care Center, in Amarillo where she had resided since 2006. By all who had the privilege to know her, Mary Anne was remarkable for that rarest of combinations, beauty and a truly kind heart, and it is for these qualities that she will be remembered.
Mary Anne was born April 30, 1929 in Denver, Colorado, the only child of Edwin Ambrose Morrison and Lucy Leigh Laney Morrison of Dallas, Texas.  Her father was in sales for Proctor and Gamble in Denver and later Vance K. Miller Co. in Dallas.  Her mother was a music teacher for the Dallas Public Schools.
After graduating from Highland Park High School in Dallas, Mary Anne continued her education at Southern Methodist University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
College sweethearts at S.M.U., Mary Anne married E. W. Williams, Jr. of Post, Texas on February 18, 1950 at Highland Park Methodist Church in Dallas. Her husband of over 60 years, E. W. Williams, Jr. shares, "She was the loveliest and most gracious lady I have ever known.  I will miss her very much."
Mary Anne devoted her life to her family and community.   She raised two sons, Dr. E.W. Williams, III  and  J. David Williams, and even introduced David to his future bride, Amanda.  Later in life Mary Anne became a doting grandmother.  Reminiscing, her six grandchildren describe her as a beautiful lady, thoughtful, gracious, loving, vivacious and kind.  They also recall her sense of humor and lively readings of bed time stories.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Polk Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo for 43 years.  Her service to The Junior League and Amarillo’s Garden Club enriched her community, warming the hearts of those she touched.   She was also a talented painter (some of her still-life works adorn her home).
Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, E.W. Williams, Jr. of Amarillo, son E.W. Williams, III of Dallas, son J. David Williams and wife Amanda Barfield Williams of Kerrville; her six grandchildren, Rebecca Whitaker and husband Andrew Whitaker of Miami, Florida, Liz Keator and  husband Mark Keator of Lubbock, Lindsay Williams of Austin, Chelsea Williams of London, England, Hillary Williams of Washington, D.C., and James Williams of Lubbock; and two great-grandchildren, Laney and Emmie Keator of Lubbock, Texas.
Mrs. Williams' services will be held at Polk Street Methodist Church, 1401 South Polk Street, in Amarillo, Texas at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2013 under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home.
