Mattithealia (Mattie) Williams was born July 12,1919 to Turner Oliver Brewer and Clara Belle Seely Brewer in Chillicothe Tx, the oldest of 3 children. She married Merrell Weldon Williams July 10,1940. They farmed outside Quanah for a number of years before moving to The Texas A&M Extension Service Experiment Station in Chillicothe in 1944. She was a full time loving and caring mother and homemaker until her sons were older. At that point she starting working in the office of the Experiment Station and worked there for 37 years.
Mattithealia loved God, her family, shopping (really loved shopping), sewing, crafts, painting with water colors, and supporting her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in their many activities. After macular degeneration took most of her vision, she stayed active through Saints Alive Choir, Women Without Partners, church lunch bunch, and bible study. She always wanted to help others and insisted on bringing something to all family and church functions even in the later years of her life.
She loved birthdays & holiday parties and started counting down days, months before the next known birthday, both for family and her own. She was very surprised & excited that she had lived this long. She continued performing her annual Christmas jig well into her 80’s,
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Weldon in 2011, 2 brothers Sydney and Calvin and a grandchild Willie Williams.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home tonight, Tuesday, May 24th from 6 PM until 7 PM
