Maurice “Morris” Alex Wooten, 89, of Amarillo passed away on May 12, 2014.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 16, at San Jacinto Church of Christ with Mr. Glen Walton officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia St.
Morris was born in Bridgeport, Oklahoma on August 28, 1924 to Bailey and Florence Wooten. He moved to Borger, Texas in 1926, then to Pampa, Texas in 1938, and finally in 1962 Morris moved to Amarillo, Texas. After the death of his first wife Iona, he married Lola Wooten on April 24, 1997 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was a sheet metal worker and a member of San Jacinto Church of Christ. Morris was the epitome of the strong silent type, but loved his family dearly.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and his first wife Iona Wooten.
Survivors include his wife Lola; step daughters, Angie Simon and husband Vince of Amarillo, and Rose Mary Wall and husband Tracy of Mansfield; step son, Gerald “Hoss” Richardson and wife Tina of Moore, Oklahoma; grandchildren Chris Mark Wall and wife Angie, Drew Russell, Mathew Cantrell and wife Rashawn, Stephanie Ann Wall, James Daniel Wall, Heather Cantrell; great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Kohlton, and Hadley; and nieces Barbara Murray Robinson of Illinois, and Sharon L. Glendale of Kentucky.
