Melvin H. Kolb, 74, of Amarillo, TX returned home on August 4, 2022.
The family will receive guests at Schooler Funeral Home on Monday, August 8 from 4 PM until 6 PM. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Melvin H. Kolb was born on March 7, 1948, in Aberdeen, SD to Oliva and Herbert Kolb with two sisters Donna and Shirley and one brother Milton.
He attended Aberdeen Central High School and Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. Melvin eventually moved to Albuquerque, NM and finally found home in Amarillo, where he met his wife Monique while they worked together at Levi Strauss. Melvin and Monique Kolb married on April 4, 1980 in Amarillo. They had three children, Johann, Adrienne and Curt.
Melvin worked for Western National which changed to American General and then finally AIG for over 26 years in the computer programming department.
He loved going out dancing and showing off his dance moves. He truly enjoyed spoiling his grandkids like any proud grandpa.
Those proceeding Melvin in death were his parents, Oliva and Herbert Kolb; wife, Monique P. Kolb; stepdaughter, Yohnette Brown; older sister Donna Gauer and his grandparents.
Melvin is survived by his eldest son Johann Kolb and wife Jennifer of Aberdeen, SD; only daughter, Adrienne Stewart and husband Duane of Amarillo; youngest son, Curt Kolb of Amarillo. Along with all five of the joys of his life, Koosje Kolb, Jaxxsyn Kolb, Kaven Stewart, Korlei Stewart and Krispin Stewart that called him grandpa or papa; brother, Milton; sister in law, Mary Kolb; sister, Shirley and brother in law Larry Eckmann along with nieces, nephews, cousins and in laws.
He was a beloved Husband, father and a proud grandpa. He will forever be missed by all those who know him and have crossed paths with him. There are so many amazing adventures and events he was a part of which resulted in cherished memories.
