Merrell Weldon Williams

September 21, 1918 — May 6, 2011

Weldon moved to Quanah, TX at age 4 from McKinney, TX where he was born.  He was the youngest child of 9 brothers and sisters.  He farmed in Quanah for a number of years.  Married Mattithealia Brewer July 10, 1940 and were married for almost 71 years.  Moved to Chillicothe, TX in 1944 and worked for Texas A&M Experiment Station for 41 years as Field Forman.  Weldon loved God, his family, sports of all kinds, especially baseball, even playing baseball for many years.  He loved making and eating homemade ice-cream and woodworking in his many years after retirement.  Weldon was always willing to help anyone, and knew no stranger.  He supported his family and grand-children in all their activities.He is survived by his loving wife, Mattithealia; two sons, Wayne Williams and wife Pat of Bentonville, AR, and Roy Williams and wife Karen of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Heather Broadhurst and husband Leslie of Amarillo, Kenda Davis of Overland Park, KS, Meggan Havelka and husband Randy of Lewisville, TX, Chris Williams of Fayetteville, AR, Holly Williams of Bentonville, AR; eleven great grand-children, and many nieces and nephews.The family would like to give a Special Thanks and much gratitude to Seville Estates and their entire staff, but specifically to Deaundes Tinner, J. Hunnicutt, Mary Green, Diana Sweet, Wendy Plunk, Connie Robertson, and Penny Glaesman who cared so lovingly for Weldon during his stay.The family will be at 4721 Harvard in Amarillo.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of the Southwest.
