Mildred Christine McKee Baker, age 89, died Friday, November 2, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 5 in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Mrs. Baker was born December 25, 1922 in Walters, OK to Oscar and Sallie (King) McKee. She spent her early years attending schools in the Nara Visa, New Mexico, and Rosebud, New Mexico communities. Mildred married Clarence Leonard Baker on June 23, 1946, in Clayton, New Mexico. She worked for Safeway Foods for 30 years in Clayton, New Mexico and Kent, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and five brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clarence L. Baker; two sisters, Alice Kidd and husband, Bob of Woodward, Oklahoma, and Paulyne Shoffner and husband Odis of Amarillo; two brothers, Grady McKee and wife, Carol, and Freddie McKee and wife, Gail, all of Amarillo; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be from 5:30 -7:30 p.m., Sunday, November 4, at Schooler Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to BSA Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or to a cancer organization of your choice.
