Morris “Mo” Arnold Turner, age 93 of Amarillo died May 11, 2014 in Amarillo.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. The Rev. Stephen Friedrich of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Mo was born in McLean, Texas on November 21, 1920 to Bill and Nettie Turner. He graduated from McLean High School in 1938. Mo then served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII as a radio operator in Greenland. After being honorably discharged he returned stateside and he married Melba Elizabeth Turner in 1945.
Mo was a manager at the Pantex Plant from 1951 until his retirement in 1985. He was active in Kid’s Inc. as a coach and also enjoyed a good game of golf. Mo loved sports, building houses, traveling and spending time with his family and many friends. He had been a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church since the 1950’s.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba in 2005 and by a daughter, Judy Phillips in 2010.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael Turner and his wife Emma of Tulia, Texas and William Turner of Las Vegas, New Mexico; a special friend, June Acuff; his five grandchildren, Trent Turner, Tara Turner, Eric Bowen, Andrew Bowen and Jamie Avara; and three great grandchildren, Cy Turner, Parker Curtis and Chloe Curtis.
