Myrtle Marie Acker White, a lifelong resident of the Texas Panhandle, passed away in Amarillo, on November 30, 2022, at the age of 94.
Myrtle was born to Jacob and Magdalena Acker, on July 3, 1928, in Nazareth, Texas, where she attended school through grade 12. She went on to study at St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Amarillo and became a Registered Nurse in 1949. Myrtle’s long nursing career included positions in doctors’ offices, hospitals, and with home health care providers. It was quite common for one of her “patients” to stop and greet her effusively while shopping or attending events.

She and H. D. served the community as volunteers for Meals on Wheels, Goodwill, and the Golden Spread Boy Scout Council. Myrtle was known for generously helping others which included sharing baked treats with those she knew and loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband H. D. White, sisters Pauline Dea and Grace Kalka and brothers Floyd Acker, Jack Acker, and Edward Acker.
Four children and nine grandchildren survive Myrtle: Colleen Eck and husband, David (Bradley, Janell, and Kathleen), Mark White and wife, Terry (Courtney and Hillary), Janice Gentsch (Erica and Anna), and Neil White and wife, Dayna (Aubrey and Evan). She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren (soon to be fourteen). Two brothers survive her: Kenn Acker and wife, Barbara and Tom Acker and wife, Clarice.
