Nadine Ogle Damron was born on June 18, 1923 and died peacefully in the home of her daughter on May 29, 2011. The world became little less kind and gentle that day.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church at Quail Creek with Dr. Stan Coffey officiating.
Nadine and her husband, Homer, were owners of Damron’s Jewelers in Amarillo. They had been married for 64 years at the time of Homer’s death in 2006. They were a perfect match and complimented each other well. He was outgoing and animated while she was gentle and soft-spoken.
Nadine exhibited grace, poise, peace and a positive outlook. She always put other people first and was a Christ-like example to all who knew her. Creativity abounded in Nadine. She was a gifted oil painter and sketch artist. She also loved to read all kinds of books. Poetry was one of her favorite things and she could still recite poems she learned in school many years before.
Nadine’s children were so proud of their mother. Her outer beauty was only surpassed by her inner beauty. In a conversation, she was a wonderful listener and always appeared interested in what you had to say. They never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. When they went to her for advice, she always tried to get them to see the other person’s point of view as well. As Nadine’s children married she graciously accepted her daughters-in-law and son-in-law into the family as if they were her own.
When her grandchildren were asked a few years ago to comment on what they loved the most about their grandmother, affectionately referred to by all as Mudder, there was a recurring theme. Each one said that Mudder dropped everything she was doing when they entered the room. She had the amazing ability to make them feel like nothing was more important to her than they were at that moment.
No one can fill her place in our hearts, but she reminded us daily through her example that we can live a life of love, purity, kindness, gentleness and generosity that will continue her legacy for many generations.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Damron and her brother, Howard Ogle.
She is survivied by three children: Richard and Leslie Damron of Vancouver, WA, Robert and Jeanette Damron of Amarillo, TX, and Linda and Dean Webb of Amarillo, TX; Four Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren.
