Nancy Ann Bennett died Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Services will be held Saturday, November 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Polk Street United Methodist Church Chapel with Reverend Lane Boyd presiding. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo.
Nancy Ann Bennett was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 13, 1931 to W.W.( Windy) Nicklaus and Nancy Works Nicklaus. She attended Canyon High School, later moving to Houston, Texas and Jackson, Mississippi with her family. Upon returning to Amarillo in the early 80´s she began a career in retail sales and was a long time employee of JC Penny.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Windene Mobley, a son James Nicklaus Bennett, and a grandson Travis Nicklaus Ratliff.
She is survived by three daughters, Amanda Bennett Vessa and husband Michael of Switzerland, Wendy Ratliff and husband Mike of Bowie, Texas, and Nicky Cureton and husband Sam of El Reno, Oklahoma; her brother and sister in law Dr. Ted Nicklaus and Carol Nicklaus of Amarillo; three grandsons, J.P. Bennett and wife Christy of Houston, Taylor Bennett of Dallas and Justin Ratliff of Bowie; three step grandchildren, Chance Cureton, Erin Meng and husband Tyler of Roswell, New Mexico and Paige Cureton of Springfield, MO; and three great grandsons, Nicklaus and Conrad Bennett and Ethan Meng.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted mother, sister and grandmother and by many as a valued friend.
