Navor Martinez Jr. went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, February 15th, 2016 in Amarillo, TX, surrounded by his family.
Navor was born on June 18th, 1936 in Sabinoso, NM to Navor Sr. and Ramoncita Martinez. He was the 2nd eldest of 12 children. At the young age of 17, he went to work with T.E. Mitchell and Sons at the Tequesquite Ranch and worked there for 52 years until he had to retire in 2006 due to health problems. Navor loved the ranch life. It was his passion and he took pride in his work. He knew every corner of the Tequesquite and could tell you what cow belonged where and what calf belonged to what cow just by looking at them. When Navor wasn’t working he was spending time with his grandsons sharing his knowledge of life and teaching them how to work. They loved being with their Pampo and he loved the time he got to spend with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents Navor Sr. and Ramoncita Martinez, two brothers, Bingo and Cruz Martinez and a sister Frances Cordova.
Navor is survived by his wife of 42 years, Tomasita Martinez of the home, two daughters, Ernestine Martinez & Manuel Medrano of Tucumcari, NM; Gina Martinez of Mosquero, NM, one son Gino Martinez also of Mosquero, NM; one step-son Gilbert Archuleta and Audrey Esquibel of Santa Fe, NM; five grandchildren Jonathan, Matthew, and Andrew Brito and Tracy and Gavino Archuleta; a close family friend who was like a son, Pedro Bolin.
