A visitation will be Thursday September 30th at Schooler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday October 1, 2010 at The Brentwood Chapel of Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia with her Son in law Craig Fuller officiating. Graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at West Park Cemetery 800 Bradley Street in Hereford Texas. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.Nell Rosa Bell was born in Amarillo Texas, November 9, 1925, to parents Martin Harvey Bell and Elvie Henderson Bell. She was one of 5 girls and had 3 brothers. She was a graduate of Amarillo High School in 1943. Nell and her best friend Totsie moved to Washington DC during WWII to work in the War Department. After returning to Amarillo after the war was over, she worked for Producer’s Grain. Nell was introduced to a fine young farmer from Hereford and on November 19, 1950 Nell was married to Aubyn Earl Hodges. Aubyn and Nell farmed in Hereford nearly 40 years. Moving to Amarillo in the late 80’s, they enjoyed time together traveling around the US and world with Nell’s sisters and various family members.During Nell’s tenure in Hereford, she was involved in various clubs and organizations, She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, PTA, Band Booster, was on the Camp Fire Girls Council for many years. She held every office within the Texas Home Demonstration Association locally and throughout the state level. Nell was an avid reader, up until recently she read any newspaper she got her hands on - from the top left to the bottom right - without leaving anything out. Nell was a master seamstress. She was always keeping herself and her daughters in the most up –to-date fashions. In the last 10 years she has pieced over 200 quilts of which many, have been a recipient of. She gave over 100 lap quilts to nursing homes for patients use all over Amarillo and Dalhart. Being the farmer’s wife, Nell always had a large garden. Every year, she canned, pickled and froze many vegetables, jellies, jams and fruits. Nell won many awards at Deaf Smith County shows and the Tri State Fair with her canning. Nell loved her flowers she could raise dahlia’s, gladiolas, zinnias when no one else could, but her favorites were her geraniums. During the summer you could find Nell with a hoe in her hand or on a tractor helping Aubyn where she was needed. She and Aubyn loved to travel and that was evident when they moved to Amarillo. They went on cruises, trips to Hong Kong, Europe, Mexico and all points of the US. They were never tiring traveling the wonders of the world. Preceding her in Death was her precious love of her life, Aubyn, her mother and father, brothers, Robert (Bobby), MH (Son), Sisters, Edith Thompson, Jackie Hill Cupato, and Ruth Kopp. Nell is survived by her son, Aubyn Earl Hodges, Jr and wife Kathy of Enid, OK, daughter, Deborah Jan Fuller and husband Craig, of Genoa, NV, daughter, Kiska Ann Jones and husband, Mike, of Richmond, TX, Grandchildren, Amanda Hodges Wyrick and husband Joey of Liberal, KS, Justin Hodges and wife Loree of Perryton, TX, Misty Copeland of OK City, Oklahoma, Amy West and husband Major Mike West stationed in Korea, Brett Fuller of San Antonio, TX, Tate Fuller of Pompano, FL, Cody Jones of Lubbock, TX, Kaitlyn Jones of Troy, AL. 8 Great-Grandchildren. One brother, Dick Bell of Amarillo, one sister, Betty Davis of Lubbock, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends from all over the state of Texas.In lieu of flowers family suggest memorials be sent to: Alzheimer's Association, Diabetes Association, Point of Hope, Inc.
