She was born Nellie Marie Fridge in Dallas on April 26, 1924 to Irvine Alexander and Susie MacNamara Fridge. Her parents were visiting Louisiana around the time of her birth, and they drove all night to be back in Texas so she would be a true Texan. She did attend college in California and eventually moved back to Texas. She married Bob Giese in 1945 in Fort Worth, and they were married for over 41 years. They moved to Amarillo in 1950. She worked for several firms in Amarillo in the clerical field. Bob preceded her in death in 1987.
She eventually went to work at The Colony Art and Frame Shop. After the death of her husband, she joined the Amarillo Area Singles Dance Club where she met many friends. She met Donald Stephenson, and they were married in 1992.
She was also preceded in death by her sister Faye Hammons and her brother David Fridge.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; two step-children, Don Stephenson of Dallas and Julie Sentell of Snyder; her niece Sue Crewse, and her nephews John Fridge and Alan Fridge.
