Nena J (Freeman) Landers McSpadden

July 26, 1926 — September 28, 2022

Nena J Landers McSpadden was born on July 26, 1926 in Winters, Texas to Dawsy Freeman and Lorene Heck.  She went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2022, after spending a year with  her family in Littleton, Colorado.  -The family will receive guest at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 5th from 6 PM until 7 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.  A graveside service will be held at Llano Cemetery on Thursday, October 6th at 10:00 AM  with Pastor Bill Ivans. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Nena was proud to be from Sparenburg, Texas where she lived as the daughter of a seamstress and a farmer.  She earned her Bachelor’s in Education from Texas Tech University in 1959 and taught second grade.

Arriving to Amarillo in the 1970s, she attended St Paul United Methodist Church, where she was one of the founding members of the Covenant Sunday School Class.  Nena was involved in Christian Women’s Club, United Methodist Women, woman’s circles and bridge groups.   When she was not traveling, doing house decorating projects, baking, helping others, taking in movies, counting points at the bridge table, or laughing with her many dear friends, she might be found enjoying her back yard or preparing for a visit from her grandchildren.

Nena would tell you that she had a great life.  She was able to see much of the world, including all 50 states, Hong Kong, Europe, Russia, and Jerusalem.  She greatly enjoyed the company of many good friends and had a precious family.

Nena was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Landers, and her second husband, Dick McSpadden.  She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Moody, her granddaughter Kimberly Engler and spouse Keith Engler.  She also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Jack Thomas, 20, and Rachel Nicole, 17.

Nena’s family feel grateful for all those whom God has placed along her path and for all who have laughed with her and cared for her.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to be made in her honor to St. Paul United Methodist Church 4371 I-40, Amarillo, TX 79106
