Neva Faye Wagner, 73, of Amarillo died June 27, 2013.
A vigil will be held at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 5, 2013 in St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral with Msgr. Harold Waldow officiating. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery.
Neva was born December 17, 1939 in Modesto, CA to Vernon and Crestell Reese. She moved at an early age to Delhi, OK, and moved to Amarillo in 1957. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1958. She had a passion for playing basketball, including playing with Bob Dowell’s Dolls. She and Don met while cruising Polk Street and later got married at the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church on August 27, 1960. Neva was very active in her church home and enjoyed traveling, casinos, reading, and being surrounded by family and friends. Neva and Don owned Holiday Service at I-40 and Ross for 38 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Verna Wilkerson and husband Nolan of West, TX.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Wagner, her five children, Kevin Wagner and wife Kathleen of Wichita Falls, TX; Kimberly Barrera and husband Steve of Amarillo; Pamela Jordan and husband James of Great Bend, KS; and the twins, MSgt. Jody Wagner USMC and wife Michelle of Jacksonville, NC; Judy Cormier and husband Chris of McKinney, TX; her brother, Robert Reese and wife Millye of Mesa, AZ; and she was affectionately called “Mema” by 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, 1200 South Washington, Amarillo, TX.
