Nolan Ray Stockard

Nolan “Ray” Stockard, age 82, died Friday, March 15, 2013 in Amarillo.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE:  11:00 a.m. Tuesday, 3/19 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. G.A. Roach, Pastor, Friendship House officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home – 4100 S. Georgia.

Ray was born in1931 to Troy and Ophelia Stockard in Wise County, Texas.  He graduated from Rhome High School.  On June 19, 1970 he married Alexandra Williams in Amarillo.   He worked for Burris Mills in Saginaw before moving to Amarillo.  Ray retired in 1993 from the industrial sales industry.

Ray was active in the community and supported it by volunteering at Northwest Texas hospital.  He was also active in the North Amarillo Kiwanis where he served as a Lt. Governor and past President.  He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Hollis and Kenneth Stockard and a sister, Venita Dederick.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM

He is survived by his wife, Alexandra Stockard; a daughter, Cindy Hiller and husband, James Higgins of Amarillo a son, Dr. Alan Ray Stockard and wife, Kathy of Lakeside, TX and his daughter Cathy Blood and husband, Jerry of Grand Prairie, TX; and step-daughter, Carolyn Young of Arlington, TX;; a sister, Marjorie Stewart of Hurst, TX and a brother, Carroll Stockard and wife Jo of Bridgeport, TX; also 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
