Nora Jean Day Harris went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, May 30, 2015. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, June 5, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Westview Christian Church with Ron Kohler officiating.
Nora was born on January 17, 1929, in Hayti, Missouri, to Brown and Reba Day, and moved to San Antonio, Texas as a child. She graduated from Harlandale High School and attended Southern Christian College in San Antonio. One Sunday morning in 1944 Nora took notice of a handsome young man and his family who were visitors at the church she attended. Later that day the Harris family began discussing where they would be attending church in the future, and that handsome young man, Robert Daniel Harris said, “I don’t care where y’all go, I’m going back to that church where that pretty girl attends.” The rest is history. Nora and Dan were married on August 5, 1947 and were close to celebrating their 65th anniversary when Dan passed away on April 21, 2012.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Brown Day; her grandson Clinton Alan Harris; and her husband, Robert Daniel Harris. She is survived by her son, Robert Alan Harris and his wife LaQuetta; her daughter Cynthia Jean Huffman and her husband George; and her daughter Kathleen Ruth Kennedy and her husband Olin; her grandchildren Laura Burmaster and husband Steve; Tim Harris; Charlie Harris and wife Amber, Daniel Harris and wife Candace; Meredith Pechacek and husband Cody; Steve Huffman and wife Renee Sprinkle; Aaron Huffman and wife Elizabeth Schexnailder; Jennifer Cordon and husband Matthew; Sarah Oxford and husband Colin; Robert Kennedy; Shanna Tidwell and husband Jon; Colleen Kennedy; and Colton Kennedy, and 23 great grandchildren: Grant, Grace, Layla, Jordan, Laura, Dexter, Clint, Charlotte, Amos, Janee, Austin, Erin, Seth, Caroline, Chandler, Madelynne, Brady, Colt, Bentley, Chase, J.D., Caden and Marty; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
