Norma June (Ross) Robinson

June 27, 1936 — December 8, 2020

Norma June (Ross) Robinson entered into eternal rest on the 8th day of December, 2020 at the age of 84.  Norma died peacefully at her home with her children by her side.

Norma June Ross, born on June 27, 1936 to Ruben Creed Ross and Josie Jim (Guffee) Ross, married Larry Robinson on July 30th 1961 in Roswell, NM.  Married 54 years, Norma was preceded in death by her husband Larry on January 28th, 2016. Norma is survived by her son, Randall Robinson, 4 daughters Robbie Haroldson, Linda Rome, Misty Robinson and Stacy Robinson, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Norma’s oldest son Kenneth Craig passed away earlier this year.  She was also predeceased by her parents and her brother Melvin Ross and sister Maxine Ross Ragsdale.

Norma enjoyed an active retirement serving Amarillo veterans through the VA Community Living Center and the American Legion Auxiliary. While helping care for her husband in the VA living center, Norma became a familiar face around the facility. She was active with the church service every Sunday and when Larry was a resident, she visited him daily. Norma joined the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in 2007.  She gladly served as President, Chaplin, and VA Deputy of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #54. Every Christmas and Thanksgiving she helped organize food baskets for Veteran’s families in need. She volunteered much of her time and baking skills for service to the homeless and children in annual bake sales. She had a big heart for our veterans, especially wanted to help out Veteran families and children in need. Norma enjoyed reading, visiting with her many friends and having lunch dates with all her former colleagues.

Norma's final resting place will be in Denver, Colorado at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family is requesting immediate family only to attend the funeral. An open viewing will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Schooler Funeral Home. The funeral service will be live streamed at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 12, 2020 on the funeral home website.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial donation can be made to the VA Community Living Center in Amarillo Texas. Please specify the “Social Fund” for veterans in need.
