Norman Ray Rexroat, 70, of Amarillo died November 9, 2012. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georgia with Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be in White Deer Cemetery.
Norman was born November 27, 1941 in Antlers, OK to Emmett and Eulene Rexroat. The family moved to Pampa, TX in 1946.
Norman attended Pampa High School. As a youth, he was a member of the Pampa Optimist Club and was a Golden Gloves boxer.
Norman was a self-employed carpenter. He was an excellent barbecue cook and enjoyed applying his skills to feed family and friends. Norman was a fighter and a survivor. He fought and won his first bout with cancer in the early 1980’s. He continued to battle cancer in various forms for three decades.
Norman was a generous and loving man. If someone was in need, he was always there to help. He had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit that made us laugh out loud. He loved his family without reservation, and in return, was loved unconditionally.
He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and his son, Mark Allen Rexroat.
Norman is survived by a son Kevin Rexroat and wife Deanne of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter Kelsey Barclay and husband Jason of Bedford; three brothers, Jim Rexroat and wife Amparo of Bayside, Bill Rexroat and wife Connie of Houston, Richard Rexroat and wife Cynthia of Amarillo; a sister, Kathrine Harden and husband Clint of Clovis, NM; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
