Norris Calvin Walker

Norris Calvin Walker passed away January 29, 2011. He was born March 8, 1926 in Twitty Texas to Ed and Sarah Walker. Mr. Walker was raised in the Locus Grove Community. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Frank Walker, Cash Walker, Bus Walker, Huffman Walker and one sister, Stacy Walker(Hill).  Mr. Walker served his country bravely in 2 wars. He served in the United States Navy during WW II from March 1944 to January 1946. He then was recalled to duty in 1950 to serve with the Navy in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1951. In 1952 Mr. Walker was hired by Phillips Pipeline Comany and moved to Pampa. He continued with Phillips until his retirementin 1985. Mr.Walker met and married Leoma Martin from Shamrock Texas on December 18, 1954. Mr. and Mrs. Walker made their home in Pampa until Mr.Walker's health declined requiring them to move to Amarillo in 2009. Mrs. Walker and family would like to thank the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home and staff for their loving care of Mr. Walker these last 2 years.  Mr. Walker was a Christian and dedicated loving husband as well as a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. He worked tireless to serve his family, his neighbors, his church and his community. He gave generously to all who were in need and had a special place in his heart for children and especially children who were in need of foster care or adoption. Mr. Walker's funeral services will be held in Pampa Texas at the Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ on Monday, January 31, 2011. Burial will follow in Shamrock, TX.
