Oscar James “O. J.” Skelton Jr. died Wednesday March 4, 2015 in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 7 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Ken Cole and Dick Brooks officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Oscar James “O.J.” Skelton Jr. was born February 19, 1934 in Sugden, Oklahoma to Oscar James and Beaulah Skelton. He married Shirley McDonald on September 11, 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma. He moved to Amarillo in 1954 and worked for Miller Printing Co. and eventually became the owner of the business. He served on the board of directors for the Printing Industries of America, the board of directors for Amarillo Little Theater and the committee for Boy Scout Troop 80.
O.J. was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Gadie McDonald.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Amarillo; his son, Greg Skelton of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Robert Skelton of Los Angeles, CA., and Rain Skelton of Clyde; and his daughter-in-law, Robyn Gaston of San Angelo.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Center as well as Mary Ann Cantu of BSA Hospice for their care and support.
