She is preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as all her siblings, Theresa, Mary, Allen, John D, Ruby, Myrett and Molly.
Ollie married Leslie Verdan Davis on September 20, 1941 in Plainview, Texas. The couple made their home there where their first child, Pam, was born in 1943 and four years later their first son, Mike, arrived on the scene. They moved to Amarillo in 1957 and started their second family with the birth of Pat in 1963 followed by Sean in 1967.
Ollie led a very active life. She was a member of Trinity Baptist church beginning in 1957 and was part of the Ruth Sunday School class.
Ollie began working full time for the Furr Food store on Plains as well as the store on 6th and Georgia. She supplemented the family income by working at Toys by Roy at Western Plaza for many years. Her last job was with Albertson’s where she worked as the front-end manager for the store on 45th and Western from 1970 to 1987. She was very proud of helping high school and college age kids learn the grocery business and the responsibilities that go with a job. She was associated with the Canyon Independent School District Vocational Education and the Distributive Education Clubs of America.
After her first husband Leslie died, Ollie joined Amarillo Senior Citizen’s Association (A.S.C.A.) where she met and fell in love with a special man, Jess Wilson. They married in 1993 and spent 19 happy years together. The couple belonged to the Texas Baptist Men’s Builders. They traveled all around Texas and other states building churches to help spread the gospel. They were also very active with ASCA belonging to 45 and Uppers as well as the 42 club and 88 club because they loved to play dominoes in their spare time.
