Orville Leo Pierce, 88 of Amarillo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2018,
Orville 'Leo' was born on November 27th, 1929, in Littlefield, TX. He met the love of his life, Grace, and they were married on November 5th, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas and spent the next 69 years happily together. In addition to being a devoted husband and father and a long time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, he also worked as a foreman for Ivan Dement, inc. After retiring in 1992, they traveled extensively and enjoyed their time together.
He served honorably in the Army as a Tech 3 Sergant overseeing a team installing telephone lines while stationed in Korea from 1946-1947.
Rosary will be said 6:00 p.m., Monday, Novmber 26, 2018 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington, Amarillo, Texas 79102. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas 79110.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; parents, Ira and Maude Pierce; brothers Winfred and Benny Pierce; sister Imogene Pierce.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Lynch and husband Sam of Decatur; a son, Patrick Pierce of McKinney; two grandchildren, Jason Lynch and wife Molli of Cleburne and Jenny Willis Burge of Leander; four great-grandchildren, Preslie, Tyler, Cooper and Gracie; one sister, Laquitte Joy Freeman of Batesville, MS and one brother, Glen Pierce of Mineral Wells, TX, and many more loving family and friends.
