Patricia Davis Buzzell, 75, of Amarillo, died Monday, January 16, 2012. Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 21st, at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia Street with the Reverend Kevin Deckard of Polk Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery in McLean, Texas at 5:00 P.M.
Ms. Buzzell was born November 2, 1936 in Childress, Texas to Melvin and Helen Macy Davis. She was raised in Childress until her sophomore year when the family moved to Wichita Falls. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1955. She then attended Midwestern University where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration on June 5,1958. She taught school in Houston and also worked at Uncle Ben's Rice. She and her daughter moved to Amarillo in 1972. Ms. Buzzell started working at Cornell & Company, CPA's in 1972 in the clerical department, while attending West Texas State University at night to receive her accounting degree. She served as a staff accountant and tax manager before passing the CPA exam in 1985. Patricia became the first female partner of Cornell & Company in 1987, retiring in January 2011.
Patricia loved the arts in Amarillo and served on numerous boards and committees including, The Lone Star Ballet, Greater Southwest Music Festival, the Amarillo Chamber Red Coat Team, Amarillo Symphony and the musical "Texas". She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Virginia Caulkins and a daughter, Patricia Ruth Buzzell.
Survivors include a brother, James Davis of Gainesville, two nieces, four nephews and special friends Frank Prichard, Sam Line and Franke Robertson.
The family will receive guests from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
