Paul was born on June 4, 1944 in Sydney, Ohio and moved to Odessa, Texas when he was 5. He was excited for opportunities and looking forward to paving his path so much so that he couldn’t get to Amarillo soon enough. In 1963 with his family in tow and using his strongest: characteristics, dedication, devotion, and commitment, he established many business adventures; Quality Service and Supply, Quality Services and Installations, PJ Properties, Route 66 Roadhouse, and Splash Waterpark of Amarillo. With his ambition and drive, he co-founded the Make-A-Wish foundation of Amarillo Inc., Southwest Amarillo Optimist Club and Amarillo Lone Star Eight Ball League.  He was involved for many years with Amarillo Subcontractors Association, Elks Lodge, Track & Trail Sports Riders, and multiple billiards leagues in Amarillo.

Paul had many passions, including racing motorcycles in his younger years with his family and riding his Harley to Sturgis.  As an avid NASCAR fan, when he wasn’t attending a race, he watched races on TV of anything that had a motor. He enjoyed hunting elk and deer in New Mexico. Water activities at the lake, such as fishing and slalom skiing.  His most prestigious passion was billiards. He had many teammates throughout the years who we all knew he considered family. He consistently competed on a state and national level and earned many awards of achievement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ethel Johnson; brother, Marion Johnson; brother-in-law Ira B Hamil; and nephew Darrell Hamil.

Survivors include his loving companion, Samantha Broaddus; a son Jerry D Johnson and wife Martha of Canyon, two daughters Deedra Trammell of Waxahachie & Tonya Beck and husband Todd of Fort Worth. Eight grandchildren that he was extremely proud of and seventeen great grandchildren that he felt hung the moon.  He has a brother Russell Johnson and wife Sharon of Odessa and two sisters Janette Hamil of Lubbock & Patty Stone and Husband Terry of Lubbock and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers he would ask to please donate to Make-A-Wish foundation of Amarillo Texas, Herrington Cancer Foundation, South Amarillo Optimist Club and/or Special Olympics.
