Peggy May, 92, of Amarillo, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 in Amarillo.
A Graveside Service will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2016 at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Peggy was born on December 18, 1923 in Memphis to Emmett Ernest and Daisy Lee Walker.
She earned her B.A. from West Texas College in Canyon and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the A.A.U.W (The American Association of University Women). She married Kenneth May in Memphis in 1947. She was active with and a one time president of the High Plains Baptist Hospital Auxiliary. Peggy was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed knitting, cross stitching and loved to read.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Siegle, Harold “Chesty” and Emmett Walker; four sisters, Mary Catherine Higginbotham, Thelma Vaughn, Zady Belle Walker and Ernestine Pilcher; and one grandson, Keith Thomas Warren.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Lynn Warren and husband, Tom; and one grandson, Kevin Warren and wife, Heather.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, Maryland 20814 or Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 PM.
