Ralph W. “Pete” Feemster, 88 of Amarillo died Saturday, December 24, 2016.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Memorial Park’s East Mausoleum. Military Honors provided by Volleys for Veterans. Entombment will follow. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Pete was born to Floyd and Mauvaline Feemster in Vera, Knox County, Texas on July 2, 1928. He worked in the aircraft industry in Fort Worth, Texas from July 1944 throughout the duration of WW2 before he was let go due to being under the age of 18 years old. He returned to high school in Vera and graduated in 1946. He returned to Fort Worth and worked on construction of planes from 1947 until he was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1952. He attained the rank of Lieutenant and served with the 625 Field Artillery, 40th Infantry Division, as a forward observer along the Demilitarized Zone in South Korea until discharged in January of 1954. He went back to his job with General Dynamics Aircraft Company and left to work for the Postal Service in Amarillo for 26 years until his retirement on July 1, 1988.
He married J’nne Hurd in Vera, Texas on July 2, 1947. The marriage lasted 42 years until her death on April 20, 1989. There were no children. He later married Rebecca Snyder on January 19, 1991 and counted her children as his own. Rebecca passed away on March 27, 2011 after 20 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jimmy Lee Feemster.
Pete is survived by two daughters, Kelline Snyder of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Toya Unger and husband Gary of Granbury; six grandchildren, Heather Snyder-LaCivita and husband Jeff, Jory Milbern and wife Brooke, Shamara DeHerrera and husband Daniel; Travis Unger and wife Crystal, Randy Unger and wife Robyn, and Kasey Bearden and husband Bruce; eight great-grandchildren, Haven Snyder-LaCivita, Kallia DeHerrera, Kyra DeHerrera, Victoria Unger, Dallas Unger, Remy Unger, Aubrie Bearden, and Keagan Bearden. He had special friends who were of great assistance in his later years; Betty and John Wilkie, Robert Macias, Janet Riley, and Pat McFall, for which he was very grateful.
