Petra Diaz Castillo, 97, of Amarillo died August 17, 2012.
Rosary will be said Monday, August 20, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jose Gomez as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Petra was born January 24, 1915 and was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She took care of all of her children and grandchildren. Petra enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at family gatherings. She was a housewife. Petra was married to Joseph Castillo for 64 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 sons, 1 son in law, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
She is survived by her children, Gloria Hernandez, Dolores Garcia and husband Raymond, Connie Leija and husband Treno, Joe Castillo and wife Lupe, Rudy Castillo, David Castillo and wife Frances, and Robert Castillo; her daughter in law, Christine Castillo; 28 Grandchildren, 42 Great-Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Family suggests memorials to be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
