P.H. Ted Nix

P.H. “Ted” Nix, age 84 of Amarillo died October 23, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2012, at St. Luke Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Wallace officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Ted was born in Atoka, OK on January 3, 1928 to William & Ethel (Smyers) Nix. He married Betty Numon in April, 1950 and the couple spent over 62 years together.
Ted proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1946-1952. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years until his retirement. He was a Charter Member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Amarillo Flotilla Division 5 District 8 Coastal Region.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leon Alfred, Lennard Jack and Vernon Clyde Nix; two sisters, Balpha Collins and Irene Floyd.
Ted is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Sharon Kracht and husband, Mark, of Amarillo; a son, Scott Nix of Whitefish MT; step-granddaughter, Julie Owen and husband, Chris; step great-grandchildren, Rob and Ryan Owen; brother, Gene Nix of OK City; and three sisters, JoAnn Sewell of Leesville, LA, Carolyn Sue Harper of OK City and Geneva (Neva) Smith of Delta, CO.
