Philip "Dan" Daniel Mettham

Philip "Dan" Mettham, 78, of Amarillo, passed away in his home on February 23, 2025. 

The family will receive guests on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. A prayer vigil will follow the visitation at 6 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 S. Coulter, with Reverend John Valdez presiding. A family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Dan was born June 9, 1946, in New York City, to Jack Mettham and Catherine Reilly. He graduated from Tottenville High School in Staten Island, NY in 1964. He attended Staten Island Community College. 

Dan served in the Air Force from 1966 through 1970, and was stationed in Thailand as part of a crew on a KC135 that refueled jets during the Vietnam War. He was later stationed at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. 

Dan married Lorraine Malinowski on November 19, 1977 in Wallington, New Jersey. He worked for ASARCO for almost 30 years. He was transferred to the new ASARCO Copper Refinery in Amarillo in 1975 working in the maintenance department, and later, he became manager of the precious metals department. After retirement, he worked part time at Lowes.

Dan is survived by his wife, Lorraine Malinowski Mettham of Amarillo; sons, Philip J. Mettham and wife, Nicole of Fort Worth, and Andrew Mettham of Amarillo; brothers, Jack Mettham and wife, Charlene of Phoenix and Hugh Mettham and wife, Suzanne of New York; four grandchildren, Elizabeth “Ellie” Mettham and Finley Mettham, both of Amarillo, Corbin Mettham and Jaxon Mettham, both of Fort Worth, as well an many nieces and nephews in Arizona, New York, and New Jersey.
