Ramon Torres, 67, of Amarillo died Monday, March 13, 2017.
Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Mass will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the church with Rev. John Valdez as celebrant. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas 79110.
Ramon was born December 29, 1949 in Corpus Christi. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Ramon worked for Amarillo College for twenty years retiring in 2012. He enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys and traveling. Ramon was an incredible counsel and speaker from his life experiences with AA and through his sayings “Easy Does It, and One Day at a Time.”
Ramon was preceded in death by his grandmother-motherly figure, Irenia P. Jimenez; his father, Ramon Medina; and his uncle, Monsies Torres.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruby Lona and husband Cesareo and their seven children; graciously accepting Connie, Felita, and Dora as daughters with their thirteen children; his mother, Adelmira Torres Ornelas; his sisters, Linda, JoAnn, and Irene; his brothers, Ramon, Raul, Ramiro and Jose; and many more loving family and friends.
