Randall Paul Rutherford

October 4, 1952 — February 24, 2021

On February 24, 2021, Randall Paul Rutherford started his ride on the spirit roads. He will be the one on the bright orange bike, loud and fast. Randall was one of the last true riders. He loved his bikes so much he did not even own a car (which made for some very cold and wet traveling).

Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2021 in the Hog Room at Tripps Harley Davidson 6040 I-40 W Amarillo, TX. Arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home.

He was born to Paul and Gussie (Tate) Rutherford on October 4, 1952 in Amarillo. They preceded him in death. He also had one brother and two sisters who also preceded him in death.

In his younger days, all he would do was build bikes, chase women, and if you crossed him, you would meet “Saint” in a heartbeat. He collected friends like he collected miles on the highway. Everywhere he went, he knew someone there. They could have been doctors, they could have been homeless, no matter what they did in life, Randall was a friend to all who knew him. He was also known to be one of the smartest people in any room and he would let you know it. If you needed a story to make you smile, he was there for you. His ability to bring you into the story was something to see. The characters he’d turn into, to sell it was incredible; and boy did he like to be a character.

Randall will be missed by all who knew him, especially sons Brandon Steele Rutherford and wife Megan, Nickalaus Cole Rutherford and grandson Sebastian Karter Rutherford. Scott Tinkham had the honor of being Randall’s best friend and brother until the end and will miss him greatly too.

After All These Years, is an incredible song by Ray Wylie Hubbard written for Randall and tells his story better than I ever could, it’s the perfect tribute to Randall “RocknR” Rutherford.

There’s sixty something years of motorcycles engulfed in his head,

All gathered there in free thought thinking he once said.

The wind in his ear and hair twisted like a bowl of rice

His skin was covered in tattoos but he was cool as ice,

And the dues he paid to get here, worth each and every sacrifice.

All the miles spent riding wild and weirdly

All the beer money down the drain,

All the what if’s and nearly,

All the hurts and pain

All the brothers and sisters that were met

All the fun and the fight

Was a large down payment

On the last ride he’ll make tonight.

It’s cuts and love and glory to come

One mortal’s attempt to walk into fame.

It was his belief in riding with freedom

And Randall “RocknR” Rutherford was his name.
