Raymond Huseman

January 18, 1953 — March 5, 2010

Prayer Service will be held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 6:30 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Nazareth, Texas.  Celebrants will be Rev. Ken Keller, Rev. Tony Neusch and Rev. Nicholas Gerber.  Burial will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Amarillo, Texas.Raymond was born January 18, 1953 to Robert and Willie Fay Huseman of Nazareth, Texas.  He married Kimberly Wilhelm on May 22, 1976 in Nazareth, Texas.  Ray was a lover of life, always enjoying the time he was able to spend with his family and friends.  He was raised in Nazareth where he attended and was actively involved in Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He moved his family to Amarillo in 1984.  Since 1991 he owned and operated Precision Welding.In Amarillo, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as Parish Council President, Catechist and Eucharistic Minister.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 7573.  He spent much of his time fostering respect for all human life through the Respect Life Ministries of the Diocese of Amarillo.  For this work he and his wife Kim were awarded the Servant of Life Award in 2007.  He also volunteered much of his time and expertise at St. Joseph Catholic School and Holy Cross Catholic Academy.  Ray bravely battled Leukemia for nearly two years.  Throughout that battle he developed many friends with the staff in the BSA Oncology unit.  He was well known for his faith, cheerfulness and compassion.  Despite his pain and discomfort, he would always ask everyone who entered the room how they were doing and wouldn’t let them leave without sending them off with a warm “God Bless You!”Throughout his life he inspired many others to grow closer to God through his faithfulness and generosity.Survivors include his wife, Kimberly; sons, Ryan and wife Heather of Amarillo, Andy and wife Britteny of Pampa, and Daniel of the home; daughters, Amber and husband Steve Scott of Booker, Katie of College Station, Jenna of College Station and Mary of the home; grandchildren, Kyler Scott, Stephanie Scott, Hannah Scott, Chevy Scott, Jewel Scott, Brooke Scott, Reece Huseman, Luke Huseman, Grace Huseman, John Paul Huseman, Jude Huseman, Blaise Huseman and Ava Huseman; mother, Willie Faye Huseman of Amarillo; Mother-in-law, Betty Wilhelm of Nazareth; siblings, Linda Gressett of Amarillo, Terry Huseman of Amarillo, Julie Neusch of Amarillo, Robert Huseman Jr of Amarillo, Anna Lee of Panhandle, Chrissy Acker of Amarillo, Billy Huseman of Amarillo, and Sister Mary Michael Huseman of Panhandle.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and godchildren as well as a host of close friends.  He was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank and Katie Huseman, and George and Bennie Faye Hicks; father, Robert Huseman; sister, Mary Frances Huseman; and father- in-law, Francis Wilhelm.
