Raymond E. Prien, Jr., 86, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, TX 79109 with Rev. John Valdez as celebrant. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Mr. Prien was born on February 28, 1930 to Raymond and Jeanette Prien in Amarillo. He attended school at St. Mary’s and Price College in Amarillo. He completed his Bachelor in Business through Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. He worked in accounting his entire career. He married Betty Anne Bauer in Omaha, Nebraska in 1953. They were married 50 years before her death in 2003. Raymond married Marion Gabel in 2005. He enjoyed traveling, bowling and flowers. He was an avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Anne Prien; one son, Mark Prien; and one sister Teresa Prien Eklund.
Mr. Prien is survived by four daughters, Diane Tunmire and husband David of Abilene, Karen Prien of Houston, Denise Quintana and husband James, Lisa Prien all of Boise, Idaho; one son, Paul Prien and wife Jacky of Dallas; his wife Marion and her six children; four sisters Beverly Chapman of Houston, Sharon Prien of Greenville, NC, Margaret Lopez and husband Gilbert of Dallas, and Debbie Hunt and husband Michael of Amarillo; one brother-in-law John Eklund of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
