Rheta Autry, 79, or Amarillo died Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
Services will be at 9 AM on Thursday, November 1, 2012 At Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil lain officiating. Burial will be at in Hillside Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Snyder at 3:00 PM on Thursday afternoon. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Rheta Opal Rhodes married Wendell Autry in Snyder on December 27,1952. In 1977 the family moved to Amarillo where Mrs. Autry began working for what was then Texas Bank in Puckett Plaza. She stayed in the same location for over 24 years, through five more banks, when she retired with Bank of America in 2002. She was a loyal and trusted employee and served countless customers with her grace, warm heart and caring nature. She was a faithful and active member of Paramount Baptist Church where she played the piano for her Love Sunday School Class. Her passion for Christ and the love for her family and friends were strong.
Mrs. Autry was a very talented artist. Her love of painting is shown throughout her home and in gifts to those fortunate to have a Rheta Autry original. She was a gifted seamstress, avid gardener and a fantastic cook. Anyone who knew her would most definitely agree that she was truly an angel on earth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother.
Family will receive guest at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 pm until 7 pm
Survivors include; a daughter, Sharron Autry of Amarillo; a son, Norman Autry of Amarillo; a grandson, Tarrant Autry of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Caitlin Daily and husband Chris of San Antonio; a great- grandson, Triston Autry of Amarillo; a brother Phil Rhodes and wife Wanda of Argyle.
The family suggests memorials be to Paramount Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 3801 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
