Rhonda Ann Orr

The sky was painted with her beautiful soul as she was released from her pain and suffering. I held her hand until she wasn’t afraid.

Rhonda's long battle with her health ended, September 12, 2019 at 7pm.

She was diagnosed with a severe bone infection, they also found an abscess and a broken sacrum. The bone infection was not responding to IV antibiotics and would need surgery to fix, however surgery was not an option in her condition. You see, the MRI that confirmed her infection also alerted us to stage 4 lung cancer. The mass had partially crushed a bronchial tube and was wrapped around an artery. It was not treatable by radiation, or surgery. Chemotherapy she would have rejected, but her body wasn't strong enough to attempt the treatment at this time anyway. In addition to all of this- Tuesday she developed another extremely serious condition called Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Her lungs were filling with fluid, and were also infected, in short she was drowning. We are so incredibly grateful for every person in the world that has dedicated their lives to nursing. It’s a job I could NEVER do, and Rhonda's nurses did a great job taking care of her.

She passed peacefully with as little discomfort as medication would allow. She saw all her grand babies while her mind was still with us, and I held her hand and told her it was ok, not to be scared, and that her family loved her.

For everyone who wants to offer some help or ask what they can do my family only has this one request. Please remember her. When you think of me, or my Dad, please think of her too. Think of her odd jokes, socially I’ll-timed wise-cracks that made you laugh, but also equally uncomfortable. Think or her bushy eyebrows that she absolutely refused to wax or pluck. Think of her wisdom, her advice, and her love. Think of her courage, and her stubbornness. Please- just remember her.
