Richard Donaldson, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 in Amarillo.
Graveside inurnment will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Llano Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Deckard officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia St., Amarillo, Texas 79110.
Richard was born in Washington DC on July 18, 1933. He worked as a Manager/Supervisor for two eastern restaurant chains, Longchamps Inc in New York City and Campbell Soup Co, of NJ-PA and MD from 1959 to 1978. He was also Director of Research and Development for Lobster Shanty Restaurants located in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ,PA,DEL and FLA. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1958, and was honorably discharged as Sergeant 1st Class.
Richard was very involved in volunteer work at the Canyons Retirement Community and Senior Citizens. He was named “Volunteer of the year” by RSVP in 2010.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Donaldson; two sisters, Joan Schilling and Nancy Beasley.
Richard is survived by a sister, Barbara Rando and husband Anthony; two nephews Raymond and Richard Donaldson all of Amarillo; one niece, Suzanne Barton of McKinney; and three grandnieces.
The family suggests memorials be sent to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1600 S. Coulter, Building A-Suite 100, Amarillo, TX 79106.
