Richard Penn Engler, Sr., 84, of Gulf Breeze, FL died June 11, 2021 in Amarillo, TX.
Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Richard was born July 7, 1936 in Orange, NJ to Charles H. and Janice Eagles Engler. He graduated from Columbia Senior High School in Maplewood, NJ then proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After discharging he attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In 1961, he married Arlene Jourdan in Evanston, IL and together were married 56 years before her passing in 2017. Richard specialized in Human Resources the first half of his career, changing his focus to Real Estate until his retirement.
Richard loved collecting trains and coins and enjoyed travelling any chance he got. He was always happy and truly enjoyed life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Engler; brother, Charles Henry Engler; sister, Janice “Sis” Poorman; and his parents, Charles H. and Janice Eagles Engler.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard P. Engler, Jr. and wife, Jacqueline of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Suzanne Harris and husband, Danny of Pewaukee, WI; and 2 granddaughters, Suzie J. Harris and Danielle Harris.
The family suggests memorials be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
