Richard Gwyn

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church.  Private burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Richard was born on January 11, 1913 in Clinton Kentucky to James and Eva Gwyn.  He moved to Amarillo in 1916.  He attended Amarillo High and graduated in 1934 and an avid Sandie fan.  He married Florence Hill, queen of Amarillo High School, on June 23, 1935.  He worked for Linde Air of Amarillo for 5 years and Amarillo Globe News for 25 years.  In 1950 he started Gwyn Shade Shop which changed to Gwyn Shade and Drapery at 925 Georgia and as business kept expanding moved it to 2503 SW 45 in 1985.  He was very active in the Southwest Window Covering Association and held numerous positions.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist church.  He is loved by all his family.He is preceded in death by his wife, five brothers and one sister.Survivors include three sons, Gary Gordon Gwyn and wife Lynn of Amarillo, Richard Earl Gwyn and Ginger of Houston, Texas, and Stanley Marvin Gwyn and wife Claudia of Amarillo; a brother, George Gwyn; 11 Grandchildren; 21 Great-grandchildren; and 6 Great Great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3402 S Jackson, Amarillo, Texas, 79109.
